Mani Shankar Aiyar New Delhi, Aug 4 (ANI): Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar finally broken his silence on Wednesday and called for the formation of a high-level committee to ensure that a ‘clean and successful’ 2010 Commonwealth Games is held.

“Let us have a high-level apex committee to which all the agencies including the Organising Committee will be responsible. We may still get a clean Games and a successful one,” said Aiyar.

“I have given a constructive suggestion and I have not said Kalmadi should be removed from the OC,” he added, when asked whether Commonwealth Games Organising Committee Chairman Suresh Kalmadi should tender his resignation.

Earlier on July 29, Aiyar pledged that he will not speak about the Commonwealth Games for the moment, but after October 15.

“I have promised that I will keep my mouth shut because somebody asked me to do so as they will successfully organise Commonwealth Games. I will speak about it after the events get over,” said Aiyar.

India is expecting huge inflow of tourists in New Delhi for the Games, as well as about 10,000 athletes from 71 teams representing 54 Commonwealth member states. (ANI)
