- New Delhi, Oct 11 (ANI): The Delhi based Ahuja Sons a woollen materials production and marketing company, launched its new range of exquisite hand woven Kashmiri shawls known as Pashmina on Saturday.
A gala pageant to mark this event was hosted at the British Council auditorium here.
A colourful and informative book on Pashmina was released on the occasion.
The event also featured with gorgeous models who showcased the attractive shawls.
The colours palette included beige, crème, mustard, black, pink, violet and purple.
According to Karan Ahuja, the owner of Ahujasons, the show was aimed at reviewing and preserving Kashmir art for the future.
“Kalamkari, is a mix of central Indian work, which is hand painted shawls with a blend of Aari work of Kashmir. So this is the new collection for this autumn-winter season and as you can see we are constantly working on the new things from Kashmir, new embroideries, new styles with a mix of western colour schemes, that’s something new for the season and rest we are trying our best to revive this art and to reserve this art for the next generation and generations to come,” Karan Ahuja said.
Pashmina refers to a type of fine Cashmere wool and the textiles made from it.
The wool comes from a particular sheep named Pashmina, a special breed that is reared and bred in the high altitudes of the Himalayan ranges. Pashmina shawls are hand spun, woven and embroidered in Kashmir. (ANI)
