AGP releases fourth list of candidates for Assam polls
March 12th, 2011 - 9:07 pm ICT by ANIGuwahati, Mar. 12 (ANI): The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) on Saturday released its fourth list of candidates, who will contest in the Assam State Assembly elections on April 4 and 11.
AGP president Chandramohn Patowary announced the names of 26 candidates. He said he would contest from his Old Dharmapur seat.
The prominent contestants include sitting lawmakers Alaka Sarma (Nalbari), Manoranjan Das (Bhabanipur) and Gunindra Nath Das (Barpeta).
Former ministers Pabindra Deka Patsarkuchi, Moidul Islam Bora (Kamalpur) and Utpal Dutta (Lakhimpur) will also contest the polls.
There are nine new contestants in the fray. They include AGP youth wing general secretary Manoj Saikia and first timer Montumoni Das.
So far, the AGP has announced the names of 94 contestants. (ANI)
