Afghan family living well, but grumbles about no access to Sky TVOctober 13th, 2008 - 2:23 pm ICT by ANI
London, Oct.13 (ANI): An Afghan mum-of-seven lives in a 1.2 million pound council house, but still grumbles that she does not have access to Sky TV. Toorpakai Saindi, 35, told The Sun last week that she gets 170,000 pounds a year in benefits and lives in a plush seven-bed home in Acton, West London. It has a 50 inch plasma TV, leather sofas and silk furnishings, while the kids enjoy a Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 3 and two laptops, besides owning an expensive iPhone. Its a big house and it costs a lot to run. Its difficult making it all work. We dont have Sky TV. Id like to take the children on holiday to Disneyland Paris but I cant afford it, she says. I spend 150 pounds a week on food and my kids tell me when there are two-for-one offers at the shops. But by the end of the week there is no money left, she adds. She added: I know some people are a bit jealous of us. But I am very shocked at the rent its too much.
The Ealing Council pays 12,000-pounds-a-month rent for the house. (ANI)
