New Delhi, June 19(ANI): Activists of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, the students’ wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party, held a rally here on Saturday to protest against the commercialization of the country’s education system.
The protest was held outside the venue where Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE) was addressing the media persons.
The ABVP activists were of the view that commercialization of education will be a burden for the economically weak students, and exploit them due to a lack of proper laws and regulations.
“Today, there was a conference where Education Ministers of all the states had gathered. The way, in which the Human Resource Development Minister is commercializing educational sector on a large scale, is depriving the poor talented students of academic pursuits,” said Vishnudhar Sharma, ABVP National Secretary.
“We have demonstrated in front of the press conference that commercialisation of education in the country should be banned,” he added.
Earlier in the day, Union Human Resources Development (HRD) Minister Kapil Sibal had presided over the 57th meeting of the Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE).
Addressing the media persons, he noted that the help of private and foreign investors, with a regulated regime, is required to strengthen the education system.
“We need a collaborative effort not just in terms of collaboration between states and the Union government, but collaboration with private entrepreneurs, the private sectors, the civil society and even foreign investors who are willing under a regulated regime, under which they are allowed to come in to India,” Sibal said.
