About 280 dogs participate in a dog show in Chennai

Chennai, Oct 5 (ANI): About 280 dogs comprising of thirty-six breeds participated in a dog show held in Chennai today.

The Madras Canine Club, who organised the show is an organization affiliated to the kennel club of India, which was established in 1997 by a band of devoted band of dog lovers, and it is a sole ruling body for all canine affairs in India.

President of the Canine Club Sudhrsanam said that the dog show was a hit and it included some of the rare breeds.

The show has attracted around 280 dogs comprising about 36 breeds and has been going on very well. We have quite a few rare breeds like Salukis, Saint Bernard, Foxhound, Shih Tzu, said Sudhrsanam.

Participants at show felt that such shows are a good way to see different breeds and it also proves to be a good outing for their pet.

I have been coming here for the last eight years. I think it’’s a wonderful experience. I come here twice a year. Since January this is the second time I have come here. It’’s a wonderful experience where you get to see other dogs, breeds. And you need to take your dog out, so this way you can take out your dog out, said Nirmala, a participant,

The show highlighted number of rich breeds including Irish Setter, Retriever Golden, Retriever Labrador, Spaniel, English Basset Hound, Beagle, Dachshund, Rajapalayam Chippiparai, Fox Terrier, Pinscher, Pug, Bull Dog, Dalmatian, Doberman, German Shepherd and Siberian Husky. (ANI)
