Aarushi murder case: CBI court rejects Talwar’s plea against closure report

Ghaziabad, Jan 3 (ANI): A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Ghaziabad on Monday rejected the appeal filed by Aarushi Talwar’s parents against the investigating agency filing its closure report into the murder of their 13-year-old daughter.
Rejecting the closure report, the Ghaziabad court said Talwars’ appeal is premature, adding that it wants a chance to go through the CBI’s closure report - filed last week - and relevant documents.
The court set January 7 as the next hearing date of the case, and asked the Investigating Officer to submit all relevant documents related to the case.
Earlier today, the court registered the investigating agency’s closure report in the Aarushi Talwar murder case after a probe that lasted two-and-a-half-years.
Special judge Preety Singh earlier today said that the closure will be registered first by the court registrar and then notice to parties involved and cognizance will be taken later.
The court asked the prosecution what was the hurry to file the closure report, and said that the investigating agency could have waited for the court to re-open later.
On Wednesday, the investigating agency, in its closure case said the case has been damaged beyond repair and that crucial evidence has been handled badly.
The report had sparked national outrage over the fact that the CBI accepts that this is a case that cannot be solved.
The 30-page document also lists Aarushi’s father - Rajesh Talwar - as the only suspect in the double murder, but says that the agency could not find enough evidence against him, or establish a motive.
The CBI took over the investigation into the murders of Aarushi and Hemraj on June 1, 2008, forming a 25-member team in a resolute attempt to crack the case.
The investigating agency later constituted a new team to look into the case, and recovered Aarushi’s phone Nokia N-72 by tracking the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number six months after the murder.
The CBI had also conducted narco-analysis tests on Aarushi’s parents to examine the possibility of their involvement or that of any other person.
Aarushi was found murdered in her Noida home on May 15, 2008. She was found with her throat slit and several stab wounds to her face. The family’s domestic help Hemraj was later found dead on the rooftop. (ANI)
