Aafia Siddiqui’’s lawyers demand proof of her terror plansAugust 14th, 2008 - 4:44 pm ICT by ANI
Lawyers for alleged Lady Al Qaeda Aafia Siddiqui have challenged the government to turn over evidence of her evil plans.
Denying that she was carrying a pocket book of evil at the time of her arrest, her lawyer, Elaine Sharp told the New York Daily News: “Put up or shut up, that is what I say. If they have it, why haven”t they shown us?”
The Daily News reported Wednesday that the MIT-educated neuroscientist was apparently plotting terror attacks on several city landmarks - including the Statue of Liberty and Times Square.
“Nobody has seen [this evidence]. They”re just talking about is as if it’’s real,” Sharp said.
Siddiqui, 36, is being held without bail at a Manhattan jail after being arrested in Afghanistan last month for trying to kill U.S. soldiers there.
When busted outside a regional governor’’s office, she also was allegedly found with formulas for chemical weapons and bottles of mysterious liquids in her purse.
“We are talking about a woman who is brilliant, who is fanatical and a potential killer and who was clearly fantasizing about landmarks in New York City and elsewhere,” said Representative Peter King, Chairman of the Homeland Security Committee.
ABC News reported Wednesday that Siddiqui also wanted to kill former Presidents Jimmy Carter and George H.W. Bush, the father of the current President.
Siddiqui is being treated by doctors for gunshot wounds she suffered during her arrest. She is due back in Manhattan Federal Court on September 3.(ANI)
