90 pc of American-Muslims to vote for Obama

Washington , Oct 28 (ANI): A prominent Muslim leader in the US has claimed that about 90 percent of American Muslims are expected to vote for Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama in the November 4 poll.
But, he chose not to reveal his identity, saying any open or overt expression of support from a Muslim group for Obama is likely to hurt rather than help his bid for the White House.
The statement comes ahead of the release of a Muslim-American voter survey by the American Muslim Taskforce in the next few days.
According to the Daily Times, leading Muslim organisations and groups have been requested by Obamas supporters not to declare their support to the Democratic candidate openly as they fear it will be used to decry the senator as a crypto Muslim or jihahidi manque, so much paranoia about Islam and Muslims has been spread by neocon supporters of John McCain and certain radical, ultra conservative church and evangelical groups.
Agha Saeed of the American Muslim Taskforce on Universal Rights and Elections, reportedly said Our goal is to maximise Muslim voter turnout, support candidates who support civil liberties, world peace, universal healthcare, better education, a fair immigration policy and social justice.
He added: Even if better candidates were to win on November 4, it will take a long and determined effort to help restore America s promise, ideals and principles. (ANI)

Well… that’s about a non story…
Obama has an exotic name, and that “Hussein” in the middle is Muslim, sure.
Muslims want to think they are monolithic… as Islam is touted to overcome schism and sectarianism..
…which it doesn’t…
But there’s got to be a feeling of “he’s one of us”… which he is not…. he’s a liberal… not a Talibani.
But hey, if Muslims wanna vote for the name, why not?
Maybe they think Obama will end the war in Iraq.
He has the same plan as McCain, you know.. just to pull out gradually sometime down the road when the generals on the ground okay it..
…but few Americans realize it. Somehow Americans think there is a difference between McCain and Obama on Iraq, just because the two candidates use different rhetoric to package the same plan.
Folks vote the way they do for all kinds of odd reasons.
…few of which would actually withstand reason.
Heck… I know people who think of the GOP as the party of small government.. just because the GOP says it is the party of small government.
If those guys can vote for the GOP because they like small government…
… there’s no reason Muslims can’t vote for a name.
Heck… it would make as much sense to vote for the handsomest man…
… which you have a right to do.
