7 killed, 16 injured in Manipur blast
December 16th, 2007 - 10:57 pm ICT by admin - Send to a friend:Imphal, Dec 16 (ANI): At least seven people, including five women, were killed and 16 others were injured on Sunday when an improvised explosive device exploded on a bus in Imphal East District.
The blast occurred around 6.15 pm when bus with about 80 persons on board ran over the IED, police said, adding that the bus was on its way from Imphal to Keivi village.
The IED reportedly targeted the security personnel deployed in the area.
All the injured were rushed to the Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital. While three persons died on the spot, four others succumbed to their injuries, police said.
The seriously injured have been referred to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences.
Police officials are investigating the incident. (ANI)
