66-year-old Indian woman gives birth to triplets
June 23rd, 2010 - 2:52 am ICT by Aishwarya BhattHisar, Jun 23 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A 66 year old Indian woman has given birth to triplets in the state of Haryana. She has been married to her husband for the last 44 years, but the couple didn’t have children.
Bhateri Devi created history, when she became possibly the oldest woman in the world to give birth to triplets, at the ripe old age of 66. She gave birth to two boys and a girl on the 29th of May at the National Fertility Center in Hisar, Haryana.
All through her married life she had been unable to conceive, but she finally became pregnant with the aid of the In-vitro Fertilization technique.
“According to the birth certificate issued by a government hospital in Rohtak district, Bhateri Devi was born on May 21, 1944 in Madina village of Rohtak. This birth proof is authentic and therefore she has become the oldest mother in the world to give birth to triplets so far. Bhateri Devi was coming to us for the last many months for the treatment. She has become mother for the first time and conceived only in our third attempt through IVF technique,” according to Anurag Bishnoi, who had supervised the whole process.
Her husband is overjoyed at finally becoming a father. Deva Singh said that he wanted to be a father so badly, that he even married two more times, but even those two marriages remained child-less.
