Bangalore, Feb 23 (THAINDIAN NEWS) There was a fire on Carlton Towers, which is located on the Old Airport Road in Bangalore. It is being suspected that the fire apparently started from a short circuit. Around 50-60 people have been admitted to the Manipal Hospital, which is fortunately located very near the Carlton Towers on the Old Airport Road. However since it is a commercial place and full of corporate offices, so there has been immense damage to the property.
Some of the trapped people tried to escape the fire by breaking glass panes. Some people were so desperate to flee, that they broke the panes with their bare hands. According to the police officials, the safety norms in the building were ignored, so the trapped people in the building could not be rescued earlier. It is also being said that the emergency exits were unmarked, so it led to a lot of confusion. If the safety norms were in place, then the number of the people who died and the number of people who are injured, could have had been lower.
Some of the trapped people had no option but to jump from the windows. While doing so, they sustained injuries and then had to be admitted to the nearby Manipal Hospital for medical aid. According to the latest reports, the fire tenders have brought the fire under control, and the whole building has also been evacuated.
