Agartala, Nov 24 (ANI): Three militants belonging to banned National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) were gunned down in an operation carried out by the 15 Battalion of the Assam Rifles in Champhaur, 110 kilometres away from Agartala.
Large amount of ammunitions including, three AK-47 rifles, grenades and explosives were recovered from them.
One of the deceased militant has been identified as Rajmohan Jamatia, who was also known as Raima.
The incident took place in the evening around 5:30 p.m. (IST) when a team of security force launched an operation leading to retaliation by the militants. Few members of the militant group, however, managed to flee away from the scene of the gun battle.
Champhaur falls in Khowai Sub-Division and is very close to India-Bangladesh border. (ANI)
