3 killed, 90 injured in Jaipur’s fuel depot fire

Jaipur, Oct 29 (THAINDIAN News) A major fire broke out in an Indian Oil depot in Sitapura industrial area. At least 90 people were reported injured. There were 4 oil containers in the fuel station, which also exploded and added to the fire and the damage.

Fire tenders are being rushed form Mathura, New Delhi and Mumbai to try and control the fire, which is showing no signs of abating at all. It is expected that the fire may get under control tomorrow on the very least. It is said that it would take at least 8 hours to douse the fire.

According to unconfirmed reports, at least 3 people have been killed in this explosion, around 90 people are injured. All the hospitals and doctors are on high alert. There was about 80-90 lakh liters of oil that caught fire.

The people in a 1km area of the fire have been asked to leave for their own safety as a lot of harmful gases were also released due to the major fire. The full extent of damage is yet to be ascertained.

“The incident occurred at around 7.15 p.m. and we immediately pressed ambulances and fire tenders into service,” a district administration official told IANS.

“As a precautionary measure we have vacated the nearby villages,” he said.

The Petroleum Minister Murli Deora is rushing to the site to oversee the full rescue efforts.
