3 dead, 14 injured as two trains collide in UP
January 16th, 2010 - 11:56 am ICT by ANITundla (Uttar Pradesh), Jan 16 (ANI): Due to dense fog on Saturday morning, Kalindi Express rammed into Shram Shakti Express near Tundla junction in Uttar Pradesh, claiming three lives and injuring about 14 people.
The accident took place round 8:15 a.m., when the Bhiwani-Kanpur Central Kalindi Express rammed into stationary Kanpur bound Shram Shakti Express, near Tundla junction.
The Shram Shakti Express is reported to have been running behind its schedule, it was supposed to reach Kanpur around 6 a.m.
The last two coaches of the Shram Shakti Express have been damaged in the accident.
The rescue operation is on as many passengers are still trapped inside the coaches of the trains.
The injured have been rushed to the Tundla Medical Hospital for treatment. (ANI)
