3 CRPF personnel killed in encounter with Maoists in Champaran DistrictDecember 20th, 2007 - 2:21 pm ICT by admin
Patna,Dec 20 (ANI):Three security personnel,including an Assistant Commandent of the Central Reserve Police Force(CRPF) were killed in an encounter in Kadma Village in east Champaran district late last night.
According to sources, over 100 heavily armed Maoists including some top ranked leaders of outlawed CPI Maoists participated in the operation.
According to the Inspector General (Operations) S.K.Bhardwaj, the body of a Maoist was retrieved from the encounter site.Due to darkness,the actual number of casualities of Maoists’ could not be immediately known.
The Communist Party of India (Maoist) is conducting a ‘People’s War’and has effective control over some regions of Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, West Bengal and Orissa.
The CPI (Maoist) is aiming to consolidate its power toestablish a Compact Revolutionary Zone.(ANI)
