Bharatiya Janata Party New Delhi, Mar 10 (ANI): Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Director A.P. Singh appeared before Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) today in connection with the probe into the alleged financial irregularities of the 2G spectrum licence allocation.

Singh met senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Chairman Murli Manohar Joshi in the Parliament House.

Both PAC and the CBI are discretely investigating the money trail of the kickbacks allegedly paid by some telecom firms to get 2G spectrum licences at cheaper than market rates during A. Raja’s term as Telecom Minister in 2008.

The CBI arrested former Telecom Minister A Raja on February 2 on charges of criminal conspiracy and under the Prevention of Corruption Act in connection with the 2G scam.

He is currently lodged in Tihar Jail under judicial custody till March 17.

Raja’s personal secretary RK Chandolia, former telecom secretary Siddharth Behuria and managing director of DB Realty Shahid Balwa have been so far arrested over their alleged roles in the 2G scam.

Raja was forced to resign from the Union Cabinet last year after the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) faulted him for undervaluing spectrum to favour companies who were largely ineligible for 2G spectrum, and added that the government had probably lost Rs.1.76 lakh crore in estimated revenue.
