New Delhi, Nov 30 (ANI): The parliamentary party of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) met here today and decided to stick to its demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the 2G scam.
Meanwhile, the functioning of Parliament continued to be hit for the 13th working day over the opposition demand for a JPC probe.
Both house were adjourned first till noon, and then after the laying of papers amidst pandemonium, for the day.
As soon as the Lok Sabha met, members of the BJP, SP, AIADMK and other opposition parties rushed to the well of the house, demanding a JPC probe into the scam.
As the din continued, Speaker Meira Kumar adjourned the house till Wednesday.
The Rajya Sabha also witnessed similar scenes. Opposition members rushed to the well of the house, demanding a JPC probe.
As the uproar persisted, Chairman Hamid Ansari adjourned the house till Wednesday.
Meanwhile, left parties are likely to meet President Pratibha Devisingh Patil to urge her to advise the government to accept their demand for a JPC probe into the 2G scam.
Concerned over the continued disruption of proceedings in Parliament, leaders of the Left parties, including the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) met here on Monday and decided to meet President Patil.
Left parties have been insisting a JPC probe into the scam, saying no other form of enquiry into the mega scam would suffice.
The Winter Session of Parliament began on November 9 and has witnessed repeated adjournments over the opposition’s insistence for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the 2G scam, even after A. Raja resigned as Communications and IT Minister.
Ruling members were also seen derailing proceedings in Parliament over Karnataka Chief Minister, B S Yeddyurappa’s alleged involvement in allotting land allotment to his family members. (ANI)
