Srinagar, Dec 5 (ANI): Two army personnel belonging to Rashtriya Rifles were killed in a gunfight with militants at Ladhermud in Awantipora on Wednesday. Two militants belonging to Lashkar-e-Toiba were also killed in the same operation that was launched by J and K Police jointly with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Indian Army on Tuesday evening.
One constable, Mohammad Imran Lone, was injured during the crossfire along with one personnel belonging to the CRPF.
The search of the area is in progress and more details will follow, said Superintendent of Police in Awantipora Sardar Khan.
Meanwhile, Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Yasin Malik today announced that his party would be holding protest and hunger strike on Sunday “to highlight the growing human rights violations at the hands of security forces in Kashmir.”
Malik said that the claims made by J and K Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad about no custodial killing taking place during his tenure “does not hold good” as there are various cases which have taken place in the Valley. (ANI)
