Wellington, Sept 21 (ANI): The 1972s iconic book The Joy Of Sex which for the first time brought explicit sexual discussion to the mainstream audience, is back again with a far more rewarding read.

The book written by Alex Comfort is back in a new edition revised and updated by the British sexologist and relationship psychologist, Susan Quilliam, including new information on the clitoris and female orgasm, not to mention sex during pregnancy and the female libido.

The new entries cover everything from hormones and pheromones, striptease, sex shops, and a harrowing section on penis injuries caused by vacuum cleaners.

The sections on prostitution and chastity belts have been replaced by information on “the little blue pill” and cybersex, including Internet dating and foreplay via SMS, email, webcams and teledildonics (electric sex toys that are controlled remotely).

“There’’s still a huge need for a straight-talking, informed, inspirational guide to sex,” the NZPA quoted Quilliam, as saying.

“I know from my work as an advice columnist that there’’s still a huge amount not only of ignorance of sex, but also of guilt and stress; people feel bad about their sexuality, or bad about the fact that they”re not getting it enough!” she added.

Just because we talk about sex a lot, doesn”t mean people necessarily understand it better,” said Margaret Redelman, a sex therapist.

. “Most people still have a very poor sex education, and there is still a lot of embarrassment and shyness ” she added. (ANI)
