15 get life term in 1992 Kanpur riots case

On Tuesday, the court found 15 persons guilty of crimes ranging from rioting and arson to murder during the riots, which hit the city following the Babri Masjid demolition in December 1992.

The defendants were found guilty of burning 11 persons, including two women and a child, to death.

On December 10, 1992, a mob burnt 11 Muslims to death in the city’s Govind Nagar area.

In all, 25 persons were accused of various crimes in the case. One defendant died during the 15-year long trial. The other nine defendants were acquitted. (ANI)
