September 24th, 2008 - 4:51 pm ICT by ANI - Send to a friend:London, Sept 24 (ANI): An 11-year-old girl was sent home from school after she was caught drinking vodka in class.
The girl, studying at Dunnikier Primary in Kirkcaldy, Fife, was expelled after apparently sneaking in a Lucozade bottle containing the spirit mixed with cola from home.
Five other students are believed to have sipped it.
According to a source, teachers had become alarmed when a child became ill in class and others started exhibiting unusual behaviour.
Fife Council confirmed a girl was sent home for three days.
One girl was excluded. Five other pupils who may have sipped the drink were also warned about their behaviour by school staff with their parents present, the Sun quoted senior education manager Craig Munro, as saying.
However, he totally dismissed claims that pupils boozing in class on a regular basis.
A council spokesman added: The girl did bring some diluted alcohol in to the school.
However, at no point did anybody become unwell. The school dealt with this totally professionally, the spokesman added.
A council drug and alcohol team visited the school to talk to pupils after the incident, which ironically came during the schools Health and Wellbeing week. (ANI)
