103 deaths in 104 days as curfew continues in Kashmir
September 22nd, 2010 - 1:37 pm ICT by IANSSrinagar, Sep 22 (IANS) As curfew continued across the Kashmir Valley Wednesday, one more youth injured in clashes with security forces died in the hospital, taking the deaths in the unrest in the valley to 103 since June 11.
“Sajad Ahmad Pandit, who was injured in clashes in Sheikhpora area of Badgam district on Sep 13, succumbed to injuries in the hospital this morning,” a senior police officer said here.
Doctors at the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences Soura (SKIMSS) said he had been admitted in the hospital with critical injuries.
With Pandit’s death, the toll of people who lost their lives in the 104 days’ unrest in the valley has risen to 103.
Authorities here decided to continue the indefinite curfew in entire summer capital Srinagar and all other major towns of the valley Wednesday.
“Indefinite curfew continues in entire Srinagar city and other major towns of the valley today to prevent miscreants from inciting youth to violence here,” an official said.
However, sources in the administration said curfew could be relaxed in the afternoon.
