US doctors transplant a plastic heart

He had been on the waiting list for a long time and with the latest invention, now it seems like that the heart donor waiting lists are going to be soon forgotten.
According to reports, Oklahoma pastor – Troy Golden was suffering from a heart condition known as Marfan’s Syndrome, which was present in his body, since his first breath.
At the age of 41 years, he had major heart surgery, in which the doctors tried their level best to reverse his heart condition with valve replacement and even with re-shaping his heart walls. But contrary to their efforts, his medical condition worsened and last year he found a place on the heart donor waiting list.
His doctor – Dr. Doug Horstmanhof studied his medical reports and realized that his medical condition was so bad that it the normal heart pump wouldn’t be beneficial for him, so they tried to take a new scientific approach in his treatment. They thought about a plastic heart. This device is also known as the ‘total artificial heart’ and is totally made of plastic and weighs just 160 grams. Till the pastor is able to find a heart donor, the plastic heart is going to keep him alive.
