UAE babies to be insured free of charge
January 4th, 2011 - 10:16 pm ICT by IANSAbu Dhabi, Jan 4 (IANS/WAM) A child born in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) after Jan 1, 2011, may be insured free of charge by the state-run insurance company if the child’s mother also has an insurance plan.The National Health Insurance Company - Daman - announced that a newborn whose mother is insured will now be automatically insured until expiry of the mother’s insurance plan.
At the renewal of the mother’s policy, the baby’s policy will also be renewed. The renewal premium will be charged only for the next year.
Michael Bitzer, Daman’s chief executive officer, said: “With this new plan, we’re ensuring that babies get the same benefits as their mothers from the first day they are born. We hope this new addition will act as a catalyst for the good health and well-being of both mother and child.”
