1019-tylenol_full_380Oct 20, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The shadow of recall does not seem to leave Johnson & Johnson as is evident from the latest developments. Earlier this year the company had to recall certain lots of the widely used and popular over the counter painkiller. The latest recall of the medicine has been triggered by a musty odor in the container that has made many customers irate. Even in the last year the company had recalled Tylenol along with some of its popular medicines. The recent recall involves more than 125000 bottles of the product. The company is now undergoing a U.S. congressional probe related to quality lapses.

The health-care giant said in a statement that the latest recall of Tylenol is voluntary and it has decided to recall the lot to avoid any complication. The company also said that the affected bottles have largely been sold in Puerto Rico and several states of the USA. The affected tablets were produced in a Fort Washington factory in Pennsylvania. This unit is under the McNeil Consumer Healthcare unit of Johnson & Johnson. The company has closed down the particular facility and it will be upgraded to rectify quality lapses pointed out by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration department. The incident however may tarnish the reputation of the company as it is not the first recall and Tylenol is sold in several other places of the world as well.

The customers have been asked not to use the recalled lot of products by the company. The reason of the smell could be related to a chemical used in the composition of the medicine.
