Top 5 Superfoods of the World
September 1st, 2010 - 12:36 am ICT by Angela Kaye MasonAug 31 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Obesity is on the rise all over the West, reaching epic proportions, and causing unhealthy children as well as adults. With food items such as the Krispy Creme Donut Cheeseburger on the menu in places like America, it is no surprise that our arteries are clogged and our bodies full of fat. Medical costs because of obesity in America alone are over 75 billion dollars a year.
On ‘Planet100’, a simple solution may have been introduced in the form of 5 “superfoods” that will help people to regain their health and lose the extra pounds which these horrible eating habits have caused. Planet100 counted down the five superfoods which are listed below.
Number 5-Green Superfoods:
Any greens are good for you, but these greens, which have much higher concentrations of fat-burning abilities, vitamins, minerals, and nutrients, are much better. Barley grass, for instance, has 11 times more calcium than milk, and blue green algae has much more complete amino acids than either beef or soy beans. Spirulina is one of the greatest sources of protein in the entire world, and there are several others.
Number 4-Super Nuts:
Certian nuts, such as raw cacao, are very rich in nutrients as well as antioxidants. It has high levels of iron and magnesium, with 21 times more flavanoids than green tea, and 14 more than red wine. It must be eaten in its natural form, however, to get the full effect.
Number 3-Super Roots:
Maca root is excellent for improving energy, stamina, and libido. This root has been grown and produced as a vegetable in the Peruvian Andes for over 2500 years. According to studies, the root stimulates the pituitary glands, and thus, “increases energy, physical strength, neurotransmitter production, and libido.”
Number 2-Bee Superfoods:
Egyptians wrote about the benefits of bee products in 2500 BC. The most complete food found in nature is bee pollen, which has five to seven times more protein than beef. Royal Jelly, which is the special honey that is made for the baby bees, and bee pollen are both natural allergy remedies, and possibly even slows down the aging process.
Number 1- Seaweed Superfoods:
Seaweed is number one on the list for several reasons, since they help to alkalize our blood, and neutralize the effects that eating too much acid in our diet has on the body. They also help to keep to cleanse the system of toxins from the environment. Seaweed can boost weight loss, stunt the build up of cellulite, and helps the lymph nodes to drain. Seaweed also contains a great amount of nutrients.
