Now you have more reasons to enjoy your cup of tea. If you were under the impression that a cup of tea only helps you in getting rejuvenated, think twice, as it offers another reason to consume it. Researchers have recently come to the conclusion that just three cups of tea a day can prevent the possibilities of cardiac arrest and stroke. Its regular consumption can reduce the possibilities of cardiac arrest to at least 11 percent. The research was conducted in the University of Western Australia.
Researchers have found out that the drink contains a component that cuts down the generation of plaque, which is a deadly combination of fat and cholesterol in the arteries. The component that tea has in plenty, is called flavonoids which is an antioxidant ingredient, that help in neutralizing many cardiovascular diseases and blockade of arteries in the heart, by preventing the oxidation of the harmful cholesterol. They said that any form of tea, whether it be green or black, taken in any form, with milk or without it, can be equally helpful. One cup of tea contains 150-200 mg of flavonoids. Therefore, in order to meet the requirement of 450-600 mg of flavonoids in a day, one should consume an ideal amount of three cups of tea. It has also been found that three cups of tea is equivalent to five portions of green vegetables.
80 percent of the people in Europe are tea drinkers, which is many times more than the number of tea drinkers in America. It has been found that the possibilities of cardiac arrest are more in United States than in Britain.
