The Practitioners data bank has many missing links

nat Washington DC, Feb 26 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Practitioners data bank was designed to have all the background details of all the nurses, pharmacists, and other medical professionals. However the very crucial data bank has a lot of loopholes, as a lot of important information is missing from it. The aim of the data bank was to keep the hospitals, doctors and other medical offices informed about the background of the medical personnel. This database was created in 1996, and it was all set to be launched on the 1st of March 2010, but it looks like the release might be delayed.

One of the major drawbacks of the data bank is that it doesn’t have the information about the past disciplinary action of any of the medical personnel. This data bank is supposed to contain all the information of the disciplinary action regarding any medical personnel. Many of the state boards said that the process is very cumbersome, and even though they send the disciplinary action reports, it doesn’t seem to get reflected in the data bank.

Apart from this, there is also a lot of confusion over what the state boards are required to report about. The Illinois Department of Public Health, for example, was not reporting the disciplinary actions against the errant ambulance drivers. When they were queried about this omission then they said that, “We unfortunately were not aware of this,” spokeswoman Melaney Arnold said. “If this is a requirement that this be reported to the feds, we’re definitely going to make sure that we comply.”
