Swine flu makes comeback, 20 cases in a week
December 28th, 2010 - 6:56 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Dec 28 (IANS) Swine flu has made a comeback with 20 cases and one death being reported from across the country in the week ending Dec 26, the health ministry said Tuesday. This is against last week’s (Dec 13-19) figures when only one case was reported across the country, according to health ministry’s figures.
A total of 13 cases were reported from Tamil Nadu, while four cases were reported from Goa, and three were reported from Kerala.
The single death was reported from Kerala, which is one of the worst affected states this year.
Swine flu, which has claimed 1,237 lives this year, was at its peak during the monsoon months of May-September. The H1N1 virus which causes the flu needs moisture and heat to grow, said experts.
