Study reveals that liposuction fat comes back in a year
May 3rd, 2011 - 7:38 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattNew York, May 3 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A new study on the after effects of liposuction has managed to shock a lot of people. The results of the study revealed that all the fat that was removed from specific portions of a patient’s body had managed to come right back in a year and that too, in different places.
Needless to say, liposuction patients are shocked by the findings and by seeing the results themselves in their body. The research was carried out by the University of Colorado researchers.
During the course of the study, subjects were choosen who were women but were not obese. They underwent the liposuction process on their lower body and within a year, the researchers found that they were again battling excess fat deposits and this time around the new fat deposits were in the upper body. The main target areas were the upper abdomen, shoulders and triceps of the arms.
And this is not the only side effect of liposuction, there are others as well like shock, infections, uneven appearance and scarring. Despite all the side effects, it is a very popular medical process and just last year more than 200,000 American citizens underwent it.
“It’s another chapter in the ‘You can’t fool Mother Nature’ story,’” according to Dr. Rudolph Leibel, who is an an obesity researcher at Columbia University.
