Pretoria, Aug 16 (IANS) Three more people have died of swine flu in South Africa over the weekend, raising the number of fatalities from the viral disease to six in the country, BuaNews reported Sunday.
Two of the latest victims also had diabetes and the third victim was a pregnant woman.

There are 2,844 confirmed cases of swine flu in the country, since the outbreak of the disease in June, the health department here said.

The department said majority of the cases are mild in nature.

“Mild symptoms include running nose, fever, muscle ache, pain and cough. Such cases will not need any specialised medical care as nothing should happen to them,” it said.

Pregnant women and people with chronic heart or lung disease, HIV/AIDS and diabetes should seek urgent medical attention even if they have mild symptoms, the department said. It urged people to maintain basic hygiene.
