Six swine flu deaths in Chandigarh
December 27th, 2009 - 12:03 am ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Chandigarh, Dec 26 (IANS) Six people died of swine flu at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) here Saturday, taking the toll in the union territory to 48, health officials said.
“Six patients - four men and two women - died here today (Saturday) of swine flu. They included three from Punjab and one each from Chandigarh, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh,” H.C. Gera, the nodal officer for swine flu, told IANS.
This was the maximum number of deaths on a single day in Chandigarh.
So far, over 725 suspected cases of swine flu have been screened in Chandigarh hospitals, of which over 300 tested positive.
