oldiesDec 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) In a new survey that is sure to make some people squirm with disgust, it has been revealed that 43% of elderly men (between 70 to 95) who were sexually active want more sex. While most people find it hard to imagine people the age of their grandparents getting down and dirty, the study revealed that a significant percentage of the men in that age group still enjoyed sex.

Failing health has been one of the factors that have deterred the men from enjoying a sex life at a later age. Lack of interested partners as well as absence of partners has also been one of the reason for men complaining about their sex lives. In a survey that included more than 3000 men within the age group of 70 to 95, almost 50% said that sex was somewhat important. Interestingly more than 30% said that they had at least one sexual encounter in the last one year. Among the healthy elderly men who were surveyed, 40 percent of those who had not had sex recently, said that they were not interested.

Though some people may find the study somewhat discomforting, the results of the research manages to shed the asexual image of the elderly. While the research confirms the fact that age is only in the mind, it is also clear that at a later age, health can be a crucial factor in determining the sex life. The men who were considered healthy enough for the survey did not suffer from diseases such as diabetes, osteoporosis or prostate cancer. Those who suffered from depression or took medications that interfered with erection were also not taken into count.
