sal New York, Mar 5 (THAINDIAN NEWS) There is a recall for vegetable protein products due to salmonella food poisoning risk. This has resulted in the recall of numerous chips, soups and dips, in which the vegetable protein is a constituent. During the last fortnight, the FDA has recalled the T. Marzetti vegetable dips, Castella Chicken Soup, Homemade Gourmet Tortilla Soup Mix, and numerous products by Tim’s Cascade Snacks and even the products of Earth Island’s “Follow Your Heart”.

All these recalled products (T. Marzetti vegetable dips, Castella Chicken Soup, Homemade Gourmet Tortilla Soup Mix, and lots of products by Tim’s Cascade Snacks and Earth Island’s “Follow Your Heart” products) contain the dreaded vegetable protein, which might cause the even more dreaded salmonella food poisoning. The Basic Food Flavors Incorporation manufactures all these products. This company warned its customers that they had deducted that the protein had salmonella contamination last month.

Customers who want to be sure that a particular product has been recalled or not can verify its status at the website www.foodsafety.gov.

However the FDA officials say that only some varieties of a few products have been recalled, but “we expect this to get larger over the next several days to several weeks,” said Jeff Farrar, FDA associate commissioner of food safety.
