Jan 5, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has recently released a statement which states that rushing birth even a little can hurt the health of a baby. Dr. Scott Berns, a pediatrician and also a senior vice president at the March of Dimes said that out of 100 nearly 90 percent women feel that they are safer if they give birth to the baby before its 39 weeks. However, in reality it is not true as it can the babies’ health to a great extent.
They say, motherhood is a wonderful blessing that life offers only to women and hence they should be extra careful about the babies’ health and not anything else. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s date shows that the preterm birth rate declined to a great extent in 2009 to 12.18 percent. Preterm birth rate is generally defined as a baby’s birth in less than 37 week of its gestation age. The agency states that for the third time in a row, the birth rate has declined. However, some media outlets and health magazines still feel that the infant mortality rate is more in United States than other developed countries because of preterm birth.
Dr. Scott Berns says that the babies’ who are born even few days before 39 week might have feeding and breathing problems which is injurious to them. He said that in medical language, “preterm” is generally considered to be under 37 weeks but a baby is not “fully developed” until its 39 weeks. He meant to say that the assumption of women to give birth to their babies is safer before 39 weeks is completely risky. Dr. Scott Berns, reportedly, told that women should not rush and they should know the effects of it.
