Mar 23, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Every year rota virus claim the lives of millions of children all over the world and doctors have so long trusted two vaccines to save the lives of children from this deadly virus. According to the reports, one of the vaccines is manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline Plc and the other is manufactured by Merck and Co. Inc. However, the latest reports indicate that the doctors would now have to rely on the vaccines of Merck and Co. Inc. because the Rotarix vaccine has been suspended temporarily.
It has been reported by the sources that Food and Drug Administration of the United States has found that the Rotarix vaccine has been contaminated with pig virus and so they should not be used on children. As per the sources, the latest investigation reports do not prove the vaccine to be unsafe yet but the authorities do not want to take any risks and has asked to use the vaccine only after they conduct the necessary tests and declare it to be safe.
As per the reports of some of the major outlets, the manufacturers of Rotarix vaccine as well as Food and Drug Administration has found some traces of DNA from the virus that had contaminated the vaccines. However, they have not found any evidence to prove whether the virus is completely in the vaccine or it only consists of some DNA pieces. As the situation is still a bit murky, doctors have been suggested to stop using these vaccines for some time so that children do not have to face any kind of health problems.
