Rebecca Romijn the 36 year old wife of actor Jerry O’ Connell, and the star of X-Men, Ugly Betty gave birth to twin daughters last December. Now, after having lost 60 pounds (that is what she is claiming) Rebecca is sharing her knowledge on the best ways to shed postpartum weight. She insists that the key to get back in shape after child-birth is breastfeeding.

Rebecca’s ideas on breast feeding have put her on headlines now. Her surname Romijn is pronounced like ‘Romain’. She was formerly known as Rebecca Romijn-Stamos.

The twins, who were born on 28th December last year, are named Charlie Tamara Tulip and Dolly Rebecca Rose.

Rebecca claims that the weight loss has been entirely because of breastfeeding. She vehemently denies having resorted to any other means for getting back in shape. She says that, “I think within the first three weeks, I took off like 35 lbs without doing anything! … I haven’t been able to work out that much because I have twins. It’s impossible to get back into a regular schedule.”

Rebecca says that though she may not have got back to what she was prior to pregnancy, she has done quite well. She does indeed look fantastic.

Breastfeeding doubtlessly has many benefits. Primarily its the natural nutrition for the baby. It is also a healthy option for the mother because it helps the abdomen area to be in shape and also reduce the risks of breast cancer. However, there should really be no value judgment on this aspect of motherhood. Its entirely a woman’s own choice whether she wants to breast-feed, and not wanting to do so does not make her ‘bad’ in any way at all.
