Punjab plans fund to provide healthcare to BPL families
November 16th, 2010 - 8:13 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh, Nov 16 (IANS) Punjab plans to create a fund to provide better healthcare facilities to Below Poverty Line (BPL) families in the state, it was announced here Tuesday.
The fund will facilitate providing of free medical treatment and healthcare facilities to the members of BPL families in the state’s private super specialty hospitals.
“These days, getting medical and healthcare facilities in private super specialty hospitals is beyond the reach of BPL families. A corpus fund will be established to provide free treatment to BPL families in these hospitals,” said Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal here.
“GMADA (Greater Mohali Area Development Authority) would also contribute to this fund 20 percent of the amount that it earned from the auction of land to the private players for establishing hospitals,” he added.
