Pet Food Recall Stretched By P&G

1200991-0-0-1Aug 7, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Procter & Gamble has decided to continue its recall of dry pet food owing to increasing salmonella contamination risk. The recall covers some dry cat and dog supplements. The food can be poisonous for the pets if the infection occurs. The company sells Eukanuba and Iams products. It has not got any complaint from buyers regarding their pets falling ill after eating this food. The recalled products have been sold to a lot of specialty pet stores as well as veterinary clinics in the USA and Canada. The company has made it clear that it decided to recall the products after consulting with the FDA. The products that have been recalled are manufactured in a specialized facility and the company thinks there is a possibility of the products getting infected during production at the plant.

The company does not want to take chances and it has recalled ever product made at the particular facility. The company has said in a statement those who have bought the recalled products should dump them immediately to avoid infecting their pets. The FDA has cautioned the buyers that not only the pets, even they can get infected after touching the products with hands. They should wash their hands with disinfectant if they touch the products. The salmonella infection has some after effects and symptoms like nausea and diarrhea. In some instance it can also lead to severe ailments like arthritis and arterial infections.

The infected pets may become lethargic. Some of them may show no penchant for food. They can also infect other pets and humans, the FDA has said.
