Oct. 20, (THAINDIAN NEWS) A new research shows that in the coming years a century old people will become a common sight. Accordingly, the new-born, specially the kids born after the year 2000 have more expectancy of living till they hit a triple digit number.
The research that appeared in “The Lancet”, a medical journal, projects that the people in the Western Nations will live more than a century old whereas the kids born in the USA in and after the year 2007 could be as old as 104 years. Even today the life expectancy can been seen to have increased worldwide. US, UK, Japan etc all boastS of having a good life expectancy. Taking this into consideration the claims made by the research can as well prove true before long. In the 1950s 15% of 80 year old women and 16% of 80 year old men lived to see 90. But today the number has risen to 37% for women and 25% for men.
Although some experts think that such a long life expectancy is very optimistic. There are also questions whether the people living to such old ages will be healthy or not. In consideration, different sources provide that people who live to be a 100 yrs old are healthier than people who live to be 80 years.
In countries like Afghanistan where the life expectancy rate is not more that 44 years, this could prove to be a good news. However, if the studies are believed to be correct the governments will have to rethink their retirement ages.
