Oct 20, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Since the outbreak of the H1N1 flu on April 2009, it gradually became a global phenomenon gripping almost the entire world with fear and anxiety. Popularly known as swine flu, the causal virus was termed as influenza A virus with subtype H1N1. As the death toll kept on escalating, this led to panic among the people to ensure their safety and as a result the health officials are keeping no stones unturned to make sure that the vaccines are available to the common people.
But despite the efforts of the health officials, the vaccine locations are not very easily accessible to the people as many are having difficulty in finding where exactly they should go in their respective area to get the vaccines. However, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC) on October 13 have made the latest information about the vaccine available to the public in which it was stated that that around 40 million doses of the required vaccine would be available to the people which is hopefully enough to handle the present situation.Hospitals, health departments, nurses as well as private practitioners are hoping to receive the vaccines, to cater to the needs of the people. It was also stated by the CDC that priority would be given to high risk groups which are categorized as pregnant women, people in the age group of 6 months to 24 years, health-care personnel and people with underlying health problems.
Although some argue that the situation is not that grave and media is responsible for creating panic and blowing the matter out of proportion. But many suggest that the government should continue to upgrade its pandemic controlling strategy and take proper steps to educate the public about the flu and how it can be prevented.
