One-Third Breast Cancer Risk Avoidable, Experts Say

On Thursday during the European breast cancer conference, a cancer expert revealed that women of western countries can reduce the risk of suffering from breast cancer if they eat less and get into the healthy habit of exercising more. The conference is being held at Barcelona where eminent researchers are attending this conference and sharing their knowledge on this rising health problem.

The lecture was given at Barcelona by Carlo La Vecchia, who is a cancer expert associated with the University of Milan. According to the expert, one third of the risk of breast cancer can be reduced if women of the western world ate less. He said that women should keep a watch on their life style as following an unhealthy life style will only increase the risk of breast caner.

Estrogen is the hormone that triggers breast cancer in women. According to experts, the estrogen is produced by fat tissues and more fat tissues will result in more estrogen production. Therefore a fat lady rides higher risk of suffering from breast cancer than a woman who maintains a balanced body weight. The expert has also said that less alcohol consumption will also help woman to avoid breast cancer up to one third level. Other experts in the conference too added that it is important to keep a check on the level of food consumption and maintain the body weight. Carlo La Vecchia pointed out that it is much easier to tackle these facets than to suffer from breast cancer.
