One more suspected swine flu case in GujaratJune 18th, 2009 - 8:19 pm ICT by IANS
Gandhinagar, June 18 (IANS) One more girl in Gujarat has been quarantined after she showed swine flue-like symptoms on returning from the US, a health official here said Thursday.
The girl who had arrived from the US a few days ago was referred by the government civil hospital here to the V.S. Hospital in Ahmedabad for quarantine and further observation, a health department official said.
“We would not be able to divulge any more details on the girl right now. Her blood sample has been sent to the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) in New Delhi. Her parents would also certainly be examined,” the official said.
This is the second case of suspected swine flu in Gujarat. An 11-year-old girl in Himmatnagar town of Sabarkantha district in north Gujarat was quarantined along with her parents Wednesday.
There have been no confirmed cases of A(H1N1) influenza in Gujarat so far.
The health department has urged private physicians and hospitals to help with immediate communication of any suspected swine flu cases.
