Jan 12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) In states like California and Oregon in USA the food safety inspectors have sent orders for a hamburger recall affecting over 226,000 pounds of hamburgers over quality issues. The burgers were made by New Jersey based One Great Burger and the 20 pound boxes are under the purview of this recall. The buyers of the burger complained that they found smell in the packaging and the color also seemed unnatural. The United States Department of Agriculture has said that there is reason to believe that the New Jersey based company did not send fresh products to the customers. However, it was not clear from the U.S. Department of Agriculture press release what type of institutions that bought the recalled beef burgers were affected by this recall.
It has been reported that the burger beef affected by this recall were packed in first and second quarter of the last year. The U.S. Department of Agriculture inspectors think that the packing dates were stamped wrongly on the burger boxes by the manufacturer. However, no one has fallen ill after consuming the burgers so far. A few days ago a company from California hogged headlines after ground beef sold by it had to be recalled. However, the amount of that recall was not as big. The Food Safety and Inspection Service of the USDA think that the beef was organic and it could be affected by E.coli.
Frank Tobin, an One Great Burger spokesperson said that the burger packs were sent to prisons by means of its distributors. The plants of the company are among the USDA’s highest rated ones.
