Oil Spill Cleanup Workers Fall Sick

bp3New Orleans, May 30, (THAINDIAN NEWS) According to reports, the cleanup workers who have been working night and day to clean up the oil spill that is already causing havoc, are falling sick. Seven cleanup workers were hospitalized recently after they complained of vomiting, headache, nausea while working on the clean up process off the Louisiana coast. Though the workers were later released, the clean up process suffered a set back as the officials ordered 125 commercial boats that were proceeding with the clean up process to leave the area. On Saturday, some media sources came up with reports of two more workers falling sick during the clean up process. The workers were taken to the West Jefferson Medical Center.

The Spokeswoman of the hospital Taslin Alfonzo mentioned to media sources that the doctors of the hospital believe that the most likely cause for the worker’s taking to illness is the chemical irritation. She also mentioned that the long hours of work in the heat is leading to dehydration of the body, leading to the nausea. Taslin Alfonzo said that the workers have mentioned to doctors that they think that the chemicals that are being used to break up the oil sleek have led to their sickness.

According to reports, the acting president of the Louisiana Shrimpers Association, Clint Guidry has said to a reputed media sources that his Shrimpers can do the job of the oil spill clean up but what is needed is the proper monitoring of the air quality and proper protective equipments which he complains are not being provided.
