Los Angeles, July 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) If belong to the category of people who can’t shed the extra kilos while suffering from escalating sugar levels, then opting for an obesity surgery might pave the way for you in getting rid of diabetes. In the recent years, doctors have come across many cases in which diabetes among obese patients disappears soon after a surgery is conducted to remove the additional weight from your body. One such example is Cristina laboni who has been suffering from high blood sugar levels for many years and all her attempts to control diabetics yielded no results until she went for the weight loss surgery which enabled her to finally bring her sugar level under control.
Cristina laboni underwent a gastric bypass surgery at the New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center last fall which made her lose around 50 pounds. Since then, she has not been taking medication for diabetes but her blood sugar level is almost normal. Her surgeon Dr. Francesco Rubino has been satisfied with the progress that Cristina laboni has made so far and has stated that although weight loss surgery is indeed a promising option to control diabetes, it cannot be pitched as a possible cure for the disease.
Meanwhile, the doctors have not been able to cite the actual reason which according to them, is instrumental in controlling diabetes after going under the knife for shedding the extra kilos. However, some researchers have pointed out that the rerouting of the digestive tracts following the surgery affects the gut hormones which are involved in controlling the blood sugar levels.
