Mosquitoes breeding in over 51,000 Delhi houses
December 15th, 2009 - 8:13 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, Dec 15 (IANS) Mosquitoes were found breeding in as many as 51,282 houses in the capital and prosecution was launched against 9,887 residents, Minister of State for Health Dinesh Trivedi said Tuesday.
“Legal notices were issued to 49,090 houses and civic authorities have engaged 3,500 domestic breeding checkers to check breeding of mosquitoes,” Trivedi said, replying to a question in the Lok Sabha.
Delhi so far has reported three dengue deaths and 1,146 people have been affected by the mosquito-borne disease.
Last year, the capital reported two dengue deaths and a total of 1,312 cases.
