New Delhi, June 18 (IANS) Moser Baer Trust, the community development arm of Moser Baer India, Saturday said it will implement a healthcare development service programme in 37 villages in and around Gautam Budh Nagar in Uttar Pradesh.

The trust is to launch a mobile health unit (MHU) in association with Smile Foundation for the purpose.

“The villagers can avail these facilities at a very nominal amount — just Rs.5, ten percent of the prevailing costs at most of the private hospitals,” the company said in a statement.

The MHU will offer both preventive and curative healthcare services along with diagnostic facilities to 20,000 to 25,000 people annually, it said.

“This is the first time that we are undertaking a project as an implementer. During our constant interaction with the villagers we realised that there are many of them who do not have access to basic healthcare. So we decided to start a mobile health unit,” said Nita Puri of Moser Baer Turst.

The trust has appointed one doctor, three para medical staff, four community-based health workers and two field staff.

The MHU will offer services including ante-natal, post-natal care, pregnancy-related care, immunisation programmes for mother and children, minor surgery of wounds, examination of blood pressure, basic pathological services, distribution of condoms, X- ray and ECG, the statement added.
