More Teens Are Using Rhythm Method For Birth Control

teenAtlanta, June 3, (THAINDIAN NEWS) On Wednesday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released the results of a recent survey that was conducted nationwide on about 2,800 teens.

The results of the survey have left the experts with some insights into the prevailing trends among the teens regarding sex. The study has revealed that the number of teen girls using rhythm method for birth control has increased since 2002.

The study also points that the number of girls who think that it is fine to have a baby before marriage has increased.

The number of teen pregnancies in the recent years has been steady and no decrease in the number of teenage mothers giving birth has been noticed. After the release of the survey data, experts are now voicing that the study might provide explanation for the cases of teen births.

The report says that around 17 percent of teen girls who have entered into sexual relationship have told to the researchers that they have used the rhythm method to avoid pregnancy.

In a similar survey that was conducted in 2002, 11 percent of the surveyed teen girls said that they went for the rhythm method.

As for the boys, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention survey reveals that around 64 percent of teen boys are okay with unmarried female getting pregnant. 70 percent girls think that there is no harm in getting pregnant before marriage. The percentage of boys agreeing to it was 50% back in 2002 that of girls was 65%.

The study also showed that about 42% of unmarried teens have had sexual encounter at least once and among those 98% have used birth control devices like condoms at least once.
